Agriturismo Treterre

The story of the Treterre holiday farm began fifteen years ago, when the owners planted the first blueberry plants in a plot of land overlooking a part of the lake that faces the small but charming village Pianello del Lario in the upper Lake Como area. Shortly afterwards, the agricultural project was launched and the accommodation was readied, now consisting in ten rooms that, when fully operational, can accommodate up to twenty people.

Situated on a hillside just five minutes from the road that runs along the western shore of the lake to its northern end, the Agriturismo Treterre consists of a beautiful stone building that is perfectly integrated into its surrounding landscape. The building lies in around 2 hectares of agricultural and wooded land and there is also a large swimming pool with many loungers in which guests can relax and a enjoy their break while treated to a breath-taking view. A couple of years after the holiday farm was opened, the owners decided to expand the Agriturismo Treterre experience with a catering service that make good use of the produce of the vegetable garden and of the inner farm that provides an olive oil that was DOP Lombardy Lakes certified three years ago. The gardens themselves produce honey, eggs, red fruits, aromatic herbs and a variety of vegetables that include courgettes, aubergines and potatoes. Everything that is not produced in-house comes from small local producers, including the livestock breeders and fishermen, so the customers can as far as possible enjoy zero kilometre cuisine.

The kitchen is led, season to season, by highest quality chefs who fully embrace Osteria Treterre’s philosophy to create simple, but never run-of-the-mill dishes. The menu offers four choices for each course. For the first courses there is never a shortage of fresh homemade pasta, while lake fish features strongly in the starters and in the main courses. This was always going to be the case as there have, since the osteria's inception, been four traditional standout local dishes, that is to say the polenta taragna with herbs, polenta uncia, pappa antica and patate rustici i.e. potatoes with green beans, cheese, onion and crispy bread. The cellar houses many local and Valtellina wines, along with selected labels from Oltrepò, Valcalepio and Lake Garda.

The products of the Treterre farm are not just for the splendid rustic tables of the tavern itself, but can also be purchased on site or in the village by guests of the inn and restaurant who fancy taking home a little of the tastes and scents of the lake. According to the season, the fresh produce on sale includes small fruits, salads, herbs and vegetables, as well as preserves in the form of delicious pickles in oil, jams and flavoured salts. Agriturismo Treterre is a little oasis of peace and serenity in a scenic and unspoilt area, where you enjoy a meal of the highest quality made with organic produce, or where you can spend a few days relaxing in this natural setting just a few minutes from the village and some of the most pleasant trails in the area.
