They have been working together in Como since 2007, the year they set up their own studio which is characterised by intersecting interests and a multidisciplinary approach. Draga & Aurel are partners both in work and in real life, and are two spirits that work in unison for design work that ranges through furniture, interior design and textiles.
Draga Obradovic has gained experience in London and in Milan as a textile designer in the fashion world, while Aurel K. Basedow studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and has a background in fine arts, supplemented by experience in and knowledge of carpentry and joinery. Over the years they have created together in Como they own signature style, with an approach to materials and composition that comes out of their ability to effortlessly transverse diverse creative fields.
Two years after founding the studio, they presented their collections at the Salone del Mobile, starting up significant relationships for projects with international companies, such as Baxter, Wall&Deco, Anthropologie and Visionnaire, to name but a few.
Noted for their reinvention of vintage, made-to-measure design icons, they have over time developed their own personal language based on the aesthetics of the past, but developed with a contemporary slant, their own distinctive style and the use of current materials.
One example is Transparency Matters, a collection that combines art, furniture design and lighting, all made entirely at their lakeside atelier.
