Castagna 1939

Photography by Barbara Pirovano

Beppe and Pietro Castagna see themselves first and foremost as designers and carpenters. They are carrying on the family tradition of the company founded in 1939, when their great-grandfather, together with their grandfather, began renovating important and luxurious residences around Lake Como. These would be home to the wealthy families from Milan fleeing the city during the Second World War.

From those times up to the present, they have been constantly involved in the design and production of interiors and furnishings. Castagna was established in Erba, from where it operates to this day, and has always represented a one-stop reference point for the end customer. The company works on international projects with the creations that begin life on the shores of Lake Como. The most recent of these has been Villa Lario in Pognana, with the works however reaching out to the Italian islands, to the mountains between St. Moritz and Trentino, to the Ligurian riviera, and on to London and Paris.

In more recent years, the firm has also specialised in interior design projects for yachts and boats. Apart from the lighting, every element they design and create for the house or hotel is made in-house. Their projects are bespoke, tailor made for the customer, where each space is designed to last forever, an aim that demands special care and attention to ensure that it will endure.

In addition to the operational headquarters in Erba, the showroom in Como can be visited, where it is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm, closing for lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. It is open by booking during the month of August.
