La Cava dei Sapori

La Cava dei Sapori was established in Como in 2005 and is run with dedication by Emanuele Riva, who has always been driven by his passion for good wine, good food, and good service. As a professional sommelier, winning second prize for Best Sommelier in Italy in 2010, Best Professional Sommelier of Lombardy in 2011 and Vice Italian Champion 2013. As a professional sommelier, he has introduced a new twist to the restaurant experience by actively involving the customer in the choice of wines.

The cellar now has more than 400 wines, both Italian and from abroad, has been developed through careful and long research carried out with a passion for the subject over a period of many years.

La Cava dei Sapori stands out in the area for its elegance and the quality of what it has to offer in the way of fine, authentic and versatile Italian and avant-garde dishes. In the kitchen the chef Ernest Dedgjonaj creates contemporary dishes based on homemade pasta and top-quality local ingredients, which coexist there with maestro Mimmo's signature pizzas. These are prepared according to the traditional method, with a dough made using selected Italian flours from different varieties of grains, and fed with sourdough. The pizzas at La Cava dei Sapori come in numerous varieties, from the classic margherita with San Marzano tomatoes to the more extravagant gourmet pizzas enriched with local Slow Food presidium products, such as the Lake Como dried missoltino.

Emanuele's passion for service and for the art of the sommelier also extends to the world of spirits. In an informal but carefully prepared environment, customers can also indulge in the Spirits Bar, which has more than 200 bottles of rum, grappa, whiskey, gin and other rarer spirits.

As for those who would like to taste the fine labels selected by Emanuele in the picturesque setting of Lake Como, since 2016 La Cava dei Sapori also organises unique events aboard the historic passenger boats that ply the lake.
