Nordisk

Photography by Lorenzo Butti

Founded in 1953 in Basel and Lugano as a furniture shop specialising in Scandinavian and Danish design, Nordisk quickly became a go-to location for high-quality modern furniture and accessories. With the passing of time, from an initial focus entirely on Nordic design, the collections have been extended so that the catalogue now not only embraces iconic pieces, but also a selection of "anonymous" objects from the fascinating world of unknown design, as well as pieces from the collections of emerging designers.

The curatorial approach aims to offer functional and useful collections that are not slaves to trends, object status, or the fashion of the moment, but creations that aim to last. The products also extend across a broad price range, from the most expensive to the most affordable, making Nordisk a place for everyone.

The pieces in the shop present a coherent image to the eye, a colourful inventory of quality shapes and volumes, without favouring any particular brand or big name. In addition to the sales, there is a customised consultancy service for the design of your particular space, made-to-measure furniture and bespoke interior design. Appointments can be made from Monday to Saturday, 7 am to 7 pm. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
