Where to Sleep

Relais Castello di Morcote

The Relais Castello di Morcote is a small boutique hotel hidden in the characteristic medieval village of Vico Morcote, in one of the most evocative places of Switzerland, a wooded promontory with a panoramic view of Lake Lugano. The name of the Relais is inspired by Morcote Castle, the only medieval fortress existing in the Lugano area and the heart of the family wine estate, Tenuta Castello di Morcote, where wine, olive oil and honey are produced. Born as a convent in the 17th century, it was subsequently converted into a patrician residence, while over the years it was part of the Los Angeles Academy of Architecture. Transformed into an accommodation facility in 2019 and now a member of the "Boutique & Design Hotels" collection of Switzerland Tourism, the Relais is a further step in the long and compelling family history that began with Massimo Gianini - grandfather of the owner Gaby Gianini - who, almost a hundred years ago, started the Tenuta di Morcote agricultural and winemaking company.
