Canottieri Lario

The Canottieri Lario amateur sports association is a historic rowing club based in Como, on the shores of the lake. Its foundation dates back to the late 19th century, a time when rowing was becoming increasingly popular as a recreational and competitive sport. Initially founded by a group of local rowing enthusiasts, including the multi-champion Giuseppe Sinigaglia who died on the Karst in World War I, to whom both the headquarters and the association are dedicated, it quickly attracted attention for its successes in national and international competitions, giving rise to a long and illustrious history in the Italian rowing world.

The society has always maintained strong ties with the local community, organising sporting and cultural events and promoting the sport of rowing and Lake Como too. Its aim has always been to teach rowing to children and girls to boys while also supporting the development of pararowing.
